Linguistic Analysis of Church Slavonic Documents: A Mixed-Methods Approach

The study is concerned with Church Slavonic manuscripts and early printed books at the threshold of modernity. It has methodological aim applying evaluating a quantitative qualitative mixed-methods approach for analyzing pre-modern Slavic textual culture. With respect to part study, authors make use Handwritten Text Recognition tool Transkribus in order transcribe automatically these transcriptions analysis. Qualitative analysis conducted using established philological methods visual inspection (digital) sources. sources selected this are an East manuscript Menology (March volume, first quarter 16th century) South Cyrillic Služebnik Venice 1519.Our shows that methods, when combined approach, complement each other way leads deeper understanding investigated thus linguistic development Slavonic.
